Start with the official site
The Sagrada Família is on Spain's list twice, once for the basilica itself and once for seeing it in morning light. Both visits start at sagradafamilia.org, where the Junta Constructora sells its own tickets. It sells them online only, on the website and in its official app.
This is a planning guide, not a report of a recent visit. The rules and prices below come from the Basilica's own pages, checked on 25 October 2026.
Why it sells out
Every ticket is for a fixed time slot, and tickets currently go on sale roughly two months before the visit, so popular slots are taken weeks ahead. The ticket is named, the details cannot be changed after booking, and the Basilica checks official photo ID at the door. If you arrive after your time, you cannot go in.
2026 adds reasons to come. The Basilica runs its own programme for the centenary of Gaudí's death from autumn 2025 to Christmas 2026, and the Tower of Jesus Christ, the tallest of the temple at 172.5 metres, is completed this year.
Official options first
- Look at every slot, not only the first one shown. must30's advice is to check the whole day and the days either side, and the different products too: the basic ticket, the guided tour (€30), the towers (€36) and the guided tour with towers (€40) are separate tickets.
- Buy on the spot with the official QR codes. Even at the Basilica the sale is online: there are direct purchase QR codes around the building. Availability depends on occupancy at that moment, so treat it as a chance, not a plan.
- Go to mass instead. The Archdiocese of Barcelona holds an international mass in the Basilica every Sunday and on holy days of obligation at 9:00, and an international evening mass every Saturday at 20:00. There is no charge, capacity is limited and the entrance is on the Nativity façade, Carrer de la Marina. It is a service, not a visit: you attend the mass, you do not tour the building, and attendees are asked to dress appropriately.
Tours and resold tickets with entry included
Read the Basilica's rule before you book anywhere else. Its conditions of sale say it will not accept any ticket bought through a reseller, and that only official distributors and collaborators it has expressly authorised may pass tickets on. A ticket resold outside that can be cancelled without a refund and the holder turned away. Changes and refunds on a ticket bought through an intermediary are handled by that intermediary, not by the Basilica.
So if your date is gone and you book through a platform, choose a listing that says its tickets come from an official or authorised distributor, or a guided tour by a licensed guide (groups at the Basilica must go with an official guide accredited by the Government of Catalonia). If a listing does not say, ask the seller before paying, and expect to pay more than the €26 ticket.
If you book through these links, must30 earns a commission at no extra cost to you.
Timing that helps
Opening hours change with the season. From November to February the Basilica opens Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 18:00 and Sunday from 10:30 to 18:00. In March and October it closes at 19:00 on weekdays and from April to September at 20:00, with Saturdays always ending at 18:00. On 25 and 26 December and on 1 and 6 January it opens from 9:00 to 14:00 only.
Tower visits are cancelled in bad weather, with a partial refund. If the towers matter to you, book them early in the trip so a windy day leaves room for another try, in must30's view.
What not to do
- Do not buy someone else's booking. Tickets are nominative and non-transferable, and a resold ticket can be cancelled at the door.
- Do not book with a name that will not match your ID. Personal details cannot be changed once the booking is made.
- Do not arrive late. A ticket is valid only for the time on it.
- Do not trust a site because "Sagrada Família" is in its address. The official site is sagradafamilia.org, and the Basilica says it is only responsible for tickets bought there.
Keep planning
- Spain's list, where the Basilica appears as "See the Sagrada Familia in morning light" and "Witness Gaudí's Sagrada Família Basilica".
